FREE Training for East Sussex NQTs from the Union !

Back by popular request (after last year's ‘sell out’ event !), a free CPD course for Newly Qualified Teachers in East Sussex.

WHOSE BEHAVIOUR IS IT ANYWAY ?: Nationally renowned Behaviour Management trainer Paul Howard, will lead these two sessions, packed full of tips and advice to develop your behaviour management skills. 

Paul is well known in East Sussex, having delivered training to teachers and leadership groups throughout the County- and is considered the best !

Also on the day:
  • Surviving your first OFSTED”: Teacher and Ofsted Inspector Roger Fenwick will share his experience of the Ofsted inspection framework, and will give you tips and pointers.
  • “What a Head Wants”:   What does your head teacher expect from newly qualified staff, and what support and guidance can you expect from him/her in return.  Maurice Waller, recently retired as a Headteacher, and now involved in ITT training, will give a Head’s perspective.
  • “Everything you wanted to know about your contract, but were afraid to ask…”:  NUT Regional Officer Nick Childs will explain what your rights and responsibilities are under a teacher’s contract, and what you should do if you find yourself in trouble
  • Learning with the NUT”:    How you can access a range of CPD and training opportunities through your Union membership- most of which (like this one) are FREE to members.  Paul Bishop, the East Sussex NUT’s Learning Rep will be able to point you in the right direction.
The course is on Wednesday 26th November, at the View Hotel in Eastbourne (formerly known as the Unite/T&G Centre) from 9.30am to 3.30pm.  The course is free, and this includes lunch and coffee. Your mileage or train fares will be reimbursed to you on the day.

NQT and Young Teachers' Social: 24th October

Lewes, Eastbourne and Wealden NUT are holding a social event to support and bring together young and new teachers across the area.  The event will be at The Dorset, 22 Malling Street,  Lewes, on October 23rd from 5.30pm. 

This event will be open to all Lewes, Eastbourne and Wealden members aged 35 and under and those in the first years of their career and will give them the chance to meet socially with other teachers, including food and drink,  as well as to discuss the issues important to them.

The event is free to anyone who wishes to attend but we are asking people to let Dan Thompson know prior to the event if they will be attending.
